Walasca decal on canoe

I would love to learn who built my canoe and when. It is built of wood and canvas.
The original paint appears to have been a light green and it had a Walasca decal on each side.
Although difficult to read, the stamped serial number appears to be ZWA51134M82H.
I would greatly appreciate you assistance.

If the "Walaska" decal could be "Wabaska" then the information at http://forums.wcha.org/showthread.php?5734 may help. The page at http://www.boatsafe.com/nauticalknowhow/hin.html indicates that the 82H in the end of the hull identification number shows that it is from March of 1982. I don't know of any other available serial number of build record information available for these canoes. Sorry,

I peeked off the decal that had been painted over, and I guess misread the spelling while reading the script in the mirror. I agree 1981 is probably correct. Thanks

Here's an 18' Wabaska freighter canoe which was built in northern Alberta by the First Nations. The Canadian Coast Guard had a fleet of these at one time. Said to be built on an old Chestnut form.
