Tremblay S/N LCT 015 73

I'm researching this for a friend. I've been trying to do as much research as I can on this.
I have a metal plate which says "CE.C.1200 LBS and the serial number is LCT 015 73.
My friend thinks it is a birch canvas covered canoe, but we are not too sure.
It would be great if anyone has more info on this! Thank you!

The information at http://uscgboating.org/content/manufacturers-identification-detail2.php?id=23206 indicates that the LCT may be from Les Canots Tremblay and the 73 on the end could mean that it is from 1973. My guess is that the 1200 pound figure may be the estimated capacity of the canoe and not the actual weight. I am not aware of any known Tremblay serial number records available to provide additional information. Two Tremblay catalogs are available from http://store.wcha.org/The-Canadian-Wood-Canoe-and-Boat-Company-Catalog-Collection-CD-ROM.html in the catalog collection. The various Old Town Ojibway models are completely different from anything made by Tremblay as far as I know. See http://www.usedboatsforyou.com/ad/gallery/1934640 for a similar tag. Thank you very much for the fast response! Wasn't expecting such a prompt response. I'm just a nooby on canoe's and this really helped me get some info on my friend's canoe. He's looking to sell the canoe project and we were wondering if you know how much we could expect to get? Also would it be possible since the serial number is 015.73 that this is actually the 15th one made with a data plate?

It might be the 15th one they made that year. They claimed to have been making canoes since 1914 so it is likely that they had made more than 15 canoes in that time. There is a good summary of how to value an old canoe at http://forums.wcha.org/showthread.php?57 which should give you some ideas. It looks like quite a project but you should be able to get a few hundred dollars if the wood isn't completely rotten. Good luck with the sale,
