Thule SquareBar retainers

Wooden Canoes are in the Blood
I have rooftop racks using old school "Thule SquareBars" (gifted by a Greg Nolan). I had to buy the system to clamp these to my Subaru factory racks. I am looking for the end retainers "Portage" ( https://www.thule.com/en-ca/products-_-819001 ) to add more lateral stability. The dealer and most retailers want $250 for these. Anybody got an "extra" set they will sell for cheaper? You know, maybe you had this system, and got a new car that isn't compatible.

Hey Rob!
Sorry that i can't help you directly but i addressed a similar problem in a different way- I found a set of Malone Big Foot brackets that fit my Thule square bars. They were in stock (at my then local canoe supply store in Edmonton_Totem Oufitters!!!) for about half the price of the Thule retainers and came with excellent set of ratchet straps, etc.

Just a thought...

I looked and mine must be very old, as I couldn't find them anywhere - but I do like them.
They are the old design that clamp on the rectangular bar and can be easily slid in or out to match the canoe.
They also have a thin soft pad to protect the rails of the canoe.

Here is a pic from the last time I moved a canoe.

I have some Rob. They fit on the square bars. I will take a photo of what I have and if they are any good to you will stick them in my bag when I come to Assembly and see if we can get them to you. Tariff free of course!
