Thoughts on this canoe?

Currently up for auction in CT. 174694232_antique-12-wood-bottom-canoe. Unfortunately it's been crudely glassed and has some details that appear to be un-original, but it has appeal...

It has appeal. I dont see anything objectionable. The fiberglass will come of in four hours with a heat gun. Hopefully. That ersatz tip may be worth saving.

Glass might come off, but it wont be 4 hours if its epoxy and not resin. As its much modified its lost any value that might have been attributed to its original form. Looks like a flatter sheared guide or similar, should be a good paddler. Just wouldnt pay too much. Good Luck!

I own a glassed former wood canvas canoe and love it. I was out sailing it yesterday. The glass is noisier and a more prone to impact damage than canvas, but it's also lighter. It has no historical or collectible value, I just use it as is.
