The mystery of the different font for a three...

The picture of serial number 3477 below was posted recently in the Fans of the WCHA group on Facebook with the claim that it was an Old Town from 1906 along with a small picture of the canoe.

This could match the Old Town build record below.

I've asked for a picture of the serial number from the other end and a confirmation of the length but have gotten no response. The font for the number three is what confuses me. The confirmed Old Town serial numbers from that era all have a different font for the three as shown in 3944 and 4376 below.

The first time the other style three appears after this in my records is 80053 from 1924 as shown below.

The owner also mentioned in a previous message that the canoe was in Sweden. My guess is that there is a hidden digit. The build record for number 93477 is a reasonable match. It even has the same color and a 1920s style name plate as shown in a previous message.

Picture of font from my 1903 Old Town.

Yes, the very early Old Town canoes had threes like that but the font was much smaller overall. It appears that the larger font with the different three appeared between serial numbers 3171 and 3944. Two other examples are shown below.
