The Benefit of the Gulf Stream

Where I live in the East of the UK we have a latitude of 52.41 degrees N. If I were on the otherside of the Atlantic that would put me in Alaska or in Canada, Alberta, Labrador or British Columbia. We have the benefit for most of the year from the warming effects of the Gulf Stream. This means that whilst many in the northern US and Canada have hard water and are frozen off the water we can still paddle.

So grab a coffee and enjoy watching an Englishman paddle a beautiful birchbark canoe on a fantastic English river; it was cold for us,1 degree C ( 34F) and there was ice on the canoe but there was the promise of a fantastic sunrise. The morning didn't disappoint. Spring will arrive .....eventually!

Click the link, enjoy and have a very Happy Christmas.

Thats a great video, still smiling at the name of the production company..
Is that solo seat home made or a production piece? My ageing knees would like to know...
Is it this one?

It’s one of these Andre Kneeling saddle. Certainly helps with the knees and makes getting in and out so much easier for the man of a more “portly “ stature. I was always built for luxury rather than speed!

Looks like that would stow in the overhead on your next trip stateside. hint hint haha. now to search out something similar here, front seats arent always close enough to centre for solo work, glad you showed it.

Ferdy gave me a foam kneeling saddle once. I lost it somehow and am still mourning its loss.
Is there no one in the USA who manufactures something similar Dave. It’s such a simple solution and very comfy. May be worth investigating if a canoe shop could do a deal with Aigulle to import into the States.
