Standard Handle Offset Values

Mudder

Curious about Wooden Canoes
I was putting together a template using the offset guides in Graham Warren's book today. Since there were no offset values for the standard handle (and I didn't have access to a Xerox machine), I measured the sample in the book and was able to transfer those values to my graph paper. The handle looks pretty good. Here's the values in case any other beginner might want them.

The values are displayed in Inches / 32nds.

Y X
0/8 1/16
0/20 1/24
1/1 1/20
1/22 1/8
3/20 0/23
6/16 0/17

This should taper down to a shaft 1 and 1/16 inches thick.

Getting a grip!

Now why didn't I think of that...

Lacking a copier when I was first doing this, I traced the grip pattern using a piece of thin paper, cut it out, then transferred it to poster board for shop use. The thin paper wrinkled very easily, resulting in some artistic license being taken with the tapers. Both methods work, the offsets are probably more accurate, so good on you! :)
