Curious about Wooden Canoes
I just picked up an OT for restore. It is reported to be 18' otca built in 1961. A build sheet would be terrific!

#171509 18

Thanks in advance.
Joe

171509 was assigned to a 18' Otca with a keel. It was painted dark green and shipped to Austin TX in December 1961. A copy of the build record is attached.

Scans of approximately 210,000 records were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. Additional information about the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. Please join WCHA or make a tax deductable contribution so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.html to join. If you are already a WCHA member, THANK YOU!

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

curious!

Where did you find that information on his canoe...I tried to get to that site you quoted in your text and it stated there was no information there. I am trying to determine the year of an OT boat that I might get and was trying to get the build record..........No response to the search as of now.

Blue,

Looks like Mike answered your serial number request in its own thread. A lot of the links (including the ones in Mike's message) are broken at the moment as we rebuild the WCHA site. Bear with us, we hope the hassle will have been worth it in the end...
