I just picked up a canoe with the serial #713160. I believe this is an Old Town HW, it has diamond head bolts, 18', has sponsons and floor boards... Anyone have information &/or a build sheet. Thanks in advance.

Old Town issued serial number 500,000 in 1995 and their millionth serial number was issued in 2003 so their serial numbers in the 700,000 range would probably date from around 1999 to 2000. I don't believe that they were building any sponson canoes at that point but this was well after they stopped keeping records on paper so I can't be sure. My guess is that you have the Old Town canoe with serial number 113160. This is an 18 foot long, AA (or top) grade, HW (Heavy Water) model with red western cedar planking, open mahogany gunwales, mahogany decks, mahogany thwarts, mahogany seats, a keel, a floor rack, and sponsons. It was built between November, 1933 and June, 1934. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped in June, 1934 to Lake Tomahawk, Wisconsin. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
