LOVES Wooden Canoes
No pictures right now, but stamped on the stems is GL (or CL) 52544

14 feet long

Any help with the maker is appreciated.

That would be a typical number for Penn Yan. CL is their 15' Hunter model. The "G" series would be Guide models, but no "GL" was offered.

Many thanks...Is the 52 in the front an indicator that it dates to 1952?

Probably. That is generally believed to be the case for Penn Yan when they used 5 digit serial numbers. Attached is the catalog page for the Hunter from 1952. Up through 1949, they spec'd spruce gunwales for the Hunter, by 1952, they indicated oak gunwales (I don't have 1950 or 1951 catalogs).
