We have an17 foot wooden old town canoe with 'genuine old town canoe' on it, serial #157335 on it. Would love to bet any information on it. Has been in the family for a long time

Welcome and congratulations, the Old Town canoe with serial number 157335 is a 17 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, Otca model with open a keel. It was built between March and April, 1952. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on May 1st, 1952 to Waukeag, Maine. A scan of this build record can be found below.

Hi - I am a returning member to WCHA and this is my first time using this Forum. I have a Canoe that i beleive to be an Old Town with serial number 127211 17. Can you please tell me anting about this beautiful Canoe? Thank you. If I did not reply to the correct location please forgive me. I am still learning my way around.

Welcome, the Old Town canoe with serial number 127211 is a 17 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, HW (heavy water) model with open spruce gunwales, and a keel. It was built between March, 1939 and January, 1940. The original exterior paint color was similar to the one shown at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/designs/design10.gif which was known as the design number 10. It shipped on May 8th, 1943 to Worcester, Massachusetts. A scan of this build record can be found below.
