When was my 18 foot canoe made and how can I get a copy of the manufacturing record sheet? The serial Number is 170508 18.
I am new to this and any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks. This is an Old Town canoe>

The Old Town canoe with serial number 170508 is an 18 foot long Guide model with a keel. It was built between October and December, 1960. The original exterior paint color was G. S. (Guide's Special) green. It shipped on April 14th, 1961 to Muskogee, Oklahoma. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link behind the thumbnail image attached below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Benson, Thank You so much for the build record on the canoe. I may try to restore it, as the interior is in pristine original condition. Needs minor structural
repair at the top of the bow and the canvas is all gone. The canoe is in central Arkansas.
