The information to decode your number at http://www.boatsafe.com/nauticalknowhow/hin.htm indicates that your canoe was probably shipped in 1974 due to the 74 on the end. The prefix "SWE" indicates that you probably have a Mansfield canoe from the Stowe Canoe Company as shown at http://uscgboating.org/content/manufacturers-identification-detail.php?id=11994 that shows them as being in business from 1973 to 1991.
