Serial Number Request

Happy "brown Saturday"

Hi Adam--

Old Town 177545 is an 18 foot Otca model canoe which was completed from January 24 to May 25 of 1967. It was fitted with a keel, mast seat and step, painted pale blue and shipped to Huntsville, Alabama, on May 26, 1967.

The scan of this record is attached below-- click on it to get a larger image. This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you and anyone else reading this will join or renew membership in the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to renew.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Do you plan to sail this one?

Kathy

Hi Kathy,

Thanks for the quick reply. As to sailing, it has none of its sailing stuff with it that I can tell. Does have a couple of paddles. The canoe is currently listed on ebay and is close to my home, but the seller apparently forgot to add a reserve price on the canoe before I bid on it. So he is essentially saying he will not sell it unless he gets what he wants for it. So we will see. It's a nice canoe, but I would rather pay 500 for a canoe that needs restoration and fix it up.

Have a great weekend.

Adam

On a side note, my dad is having his Morris shipped down sometime in the next month or so and when it gets here, I will photograph the heck out of it and send you the copies.

I don't know that it's within eBay's rules for sellers to change things once the bidding has begun, but I think we've all seen sellers get away with such shenanigans, and worse.
