Serial number help

I just obtained what I think to be an old Old Town square stern. She's I need of some help, but the serial number appeares to be. 0-12-5152. Any info will be appreciated.

This is not a typical Old Town serial number format so some pictures of these numbers and the interior of the boat would help. The usual format is a four to six digit serial number without any leading zeros followed by a two digit number that corresponds to the length in feet. See http://forums.wcha.org/showthread.php?791 for some examples. Can you also confirm the extreme overall length of your square stern? The records for numbers 125152 and 5152 are attached below in case those happen to match but this doesn't seem likely.

My guess is that you may have a Sebago boat. Their 1953 catalog below shows a Fisherman's Special model in a 12 foot length with diagonal bracing on the transom. Five of their catalogs are available from http://store.wcha.org/The-Historic-...pany-Catalog-Collection-Version-2-CD-ROM.html if you want more information. The other picture shows a similar serial number from an identified 14 foot long Sebago boat. There are no known Sebago serial number records available so there isn't much more that anyone here can tell you. Good luck with the restoration,

Benson
