The Kennebec canoe with serial number 22012 is shown on pages 126 and 127 of volume four in the Kennebec ledgers. This was assigned to a 17 foot long Kennebec Model, type B. It was planked by F. Roy on October 19th, 1929. The canvas covering and first filler coat were applied on the same day. The second filler coat was applied by Thib. on November 16th, 1929. It was railed by Brooks on November 30th, 1929. The "F 22" (Function number 22 or the keel?) was completed by Thib. on the same day. Thib. also completed "F 24", "F 25", "F 26", and "F 28" steps on February 22nd 1930 . The original colors appear to have been white with a black body and a gold stripe. It was packed by Breault(?) on February 22nd, 1930. It shipped on February 21st, 1930 (which must be an error) to location "30-91". This location is probably an order number but we don't currently have enough information to identify it. The original Kennebec records are stored at the Maine State Museum. I am unable to attach a scan of these records since their policies do not permit any electronic reproduction of their materials.
The microfilms of these records were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA). I hope that you will join or contribute to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See

More information about this and other Kennebec models can be found in the Kennebec catalogs contained on the Historic Wood Canoe and Boat Company Catalog Collection CD available from
http://merchandise.wcha.org/ and

There is a good summary at
http://forums.wcha.org/showthread.php?t=57 about how to estimate the value an old canoe like this.
It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
