serial # for 1940's (?) Old Town Yacht Tender

The Old Town boat with serial number 15827 is shown as a 7’ 6” long dinghy, AA (top) grade, fitted with half ribs, an outside stem, a keel, and floor rack. The boat was built in 1952-53. The original exterior paint color was white. It was shipped to Falmouth Foreside, Maine on September 6, 1953. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link behind the thumbnail image attached below.

This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-the-wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://store.wcha.org/WCHA-New-Membership.html to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe.

Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Tom --

We would be happy to have you as a member. While our focus is on canoes, our interests go a bit wider, and certainly include other boats built in the manner of w/c canoes (such as your dinghy) and boats built by canoe companies. If you have pictures of your dinghy, we'd love to see them. And if your dinghy needs restoration and you have questions, we'd be happy to help where we can.
