Enthusiastic about Wooden Canoes
It seems that you are able to get the historical information on a canoe when provided with the serial#. I have an OTCA with serial #118057. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and...

All the best

The Old Town canoe with serial number 118057 is an 18 foot long, CS grade, Otca model with red Western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, twenty inch birch decks, and a keel, and. It was built between June and July, 1936. The original exterior paint color was black. It shipped on July 29th, 1936 to Madison, Conn.

Several hundred thousand scans like this were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. Additional information about the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I'm glad to see that you have just joined the WCHA and hope that you will renew your membership in the future so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.html to renew.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions. Good luck with your restoration.

Benson
