Seeking make/model of unknown 16' W/C

Curious about Wooden Canoes
Hello, I'm investigating for a friend:
Found a nice looking unnamed 16' W/C that seems to have been soloized, along with a shellacked bottom. From the shape of the decks, it appears to be a possible Old Town, but I'm unsure. Apparently the serial number inside reads: 1161 16

Anyone know any further details from this limited info?

Many thanks for any help,
Gregor

This is an interesting canoe. The serial number is below the available Old Town records and it has open gunwales so doesn't appear to be an early Old Town. One deck looks like a Penobscot Canoe deck and no records for that company are known to exist. Can you supply any pictures of the serial numbers and surrounding areas from each end along with ones showing the rail scarfs on the decks at the each end? The page at https://www.wcha.org/catalogs/pecaco/decks.jpg has more about the Penobscot decks. Thanks,

Benson

Thanks Benson, I appreciate the response... I'm not sure if I can get a photo of the serial numbers sent to me, as I'm asking for someone else...but I did some further digging around on FB and found that the last seller (before the one who has it now) mentioned it was an Old Town from 1920 (but someone else in the thread thought it was from the Penobscot Canoe Company)...Here is the link from the FB page Fans of the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association for more photos:
