The Old Town canoe with serial number 134062 is a 18 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, Otca model with open spruce gunwales, ash decks, ash thwarts, ash seats, a keel, and a floor rack. It was built between November, 1941 and April, 1942. The original exterior paint color was similar to the one shown at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/designs/design47.gif which was known as design number 47. It shipped on April 24th, 1942 to Hartford, Connecticut. A scan of this build record can be found below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate or join the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See https://www.woodencanoe.org/about to learn more about the WCHA and https://www.woodencanoe.org/shop to donate or join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match the canoe. Page five of the 1942 catalog at https://www.woodencanoe.org/_files/ugd/537308_8101f094d8c44a57aed153063a77357a.pdf describes this model in more detail. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Wow, incredible detail and history! This is definitely the canoe and it appears, I think, in very good condition.
Thanks so much, Benson.
