scarf joint placement....over molds ?

I was wondering if the scarf joints for the strips absolutely needed to be over the molds or if they can be anywhere in between them ?

As long as you can keep the pieces aligned properly, it doesn't matter where the joints are, or even whether they're scarf joints or butt joints.
