I would like to find plans to make a rudder like the one shown in the "Reprint" of the 1910 OLD TOWN CANOES cataloge page 33. I have a 1938 Old Town Double End Boat I've restored and think it would be neat to add this option.
I don't know of any specific plans for an "Old Town Double End Boat rudder." The information at http://www.cedarislandcanoes.com/WCHA-Sailing/sources.html should help you get the right rudder pintles and gudgeons. There is a whole chapter on canoe rudders in "Canoe Rig - The Essence and the Art" by Todd Bradshaw. This is available from http://merchandise.wcha.org/product_info.php?cPath=92&products_id=436 in the WCHA store. You can also enlarge the image from the reprint to get the rough outline. Feel free to reply here if this doesn't answer your questions.
Benson Gray,
Thankyou so much for the information.
I look forward to ordering the "Essence and the Art" to fabricate a rudder.
I appericate your time and consideration in responding to my inquery.
