My family has a fully restored 18' Old Town serial #122842 with the canvas removed. Originally purchased by my Father in the 70's in Maine. The canoe had a full refurb in the 90's. It has been in a garage ever since, with occasional fresh water use. We would love to know the details on this canoe and if anyone has an idea of an approximate value.

The Old Town with serial number 122842 is an 18 foot long, GS (Guide's Special or utility) grade, Guide model with open spruce gunwales and a keel. It was built between August, 1937 and March, 1938. The original color was G. S. (Guide's Special) green. It shipped on May 3rd, 1938 to Elgin, Illinois.

A scan of this build record can be found by following the link at the thumbnail image attached below. This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description don't match your canoe. The information at http://forums.wcha.org/showthread.php?57 should help you value it. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
