requesting help with identification

I have a canoe with the serial number 05-52-1510 on its stem. A few folks have suggested that it might be an E.M. White. I'm thinking that the 1510 portion of the number refers to it's length (it is 15' 9.5" long by our nearest measurement) and I'm wondering if the rest of the serial number (05-52) might be the date that it was made? I've attempted to attached a photo. Would love to hear from anyone who might know more about this canoe. Thanks!

White did use serial numbers briefly from the late 1940s until the early 1960s when Bub King was running the shop. The format was usually xx-yy-zzzz where xx was the length in feet, yy was the last two digits of the year, and zzzz was the sequential serial number. Hovever, there are no known White records to verify any of this.

More information is available at http://www.dragonflycanoe.com/id/ and in the White catalogs contained on the Historic Wood Canoe and Boat Company Catalog Collection CD available from http://merchandise.wcha.org/ and http://www.dragonflycanoe.com/cdrom.htm on the web.

You may want to look at the first two digits again to see if it might be a 15 or a 16. This implies that your canoe could have come off of the form in 1952 and been issued serial number 1510. Feel free to reply here if this doesn't answer your question.
