Can anyone recommend someone to do a repair or even see if a repair is possible on my old town wood and canvas canoe? Interested in getting price for repair. Thanks

Bob, can you post any pics of areas that need work? There is a good list of folks on the WCHA Home Page that may be able to reach out to you. And since you are close to the ADK making a trip to this years Assemble at Paul Smiths College will offer the opportunity to meet many of them. Hope to see you there.

Super idea. I will definitely check out Paul Smiths. Attached are some pics.

I charge $250/ft.
$1000 up charge for sponsons.
It’s so hard to track time and materials, so that’s how I do it.
I’m not anywhere near you, but you can probably expect at least $4000 for a 16’er in the northeast by a professional restorer.

With respect to all of the professionals, if those numbers are outside of your budget, there are books, videos and accounts in this forum of canoe repairs. I think more people restore their own than hire it out.

This is exactly how I started about 40 years ago. With the help of Jerry and Rollin's first edition, I restored an old Shell Lake canoe. Once finished, I wasn't satisfied with the result, so I found another to restore. When one was offered for sale, a man called to ask who restored the canoe? He wanted his restored, and that started the Wooden Canoe Shop. Even after over 300 canoes, I still enjoy the process, and will continue to do a few at my leisure.
