Reborn Paddlers from Maine

Curious about Wooden Canoes
We were once paddlers...and we are finally falling back in love with paddling after moving back to New England (Maine).

Previously (as in 10 years ago) we spent most of our time on the water in kayaks, but this past year we picked-up a little cedar strip canoe. Now, with the Gazetteer in hand, we are pouring over so many paddling options. It feels like Christmas morning every morning with so many ponds, lakes and rivers to explore.

Sooo...we're excited to read trip reports here, and this winter we'll be looking for some advice on restoration.

Until then, happy paddling!

AHHHhhh, Maine: one of the cradles of the canoeing universe... and home to some of the experts in the building and restoration of wooden canoes.

Take a look at this list of WCHA chapters, if you're interested in group paddling activities or in-person restoration advice. http://www.wcha.org/local-area-chapters/

Welcome back to New England. The Northeast Chapter has a paddle scheduled on Saturday, September 10th. The plan is to meet on the boat ramp in Hallowell at 8:30 - 9:00 and paddle down river to Richmond. If it's raining call Bob Bassett at 207-578-0876 by 7:00 AM for confirmation (or if you have any other questions). Hope that you can join in,

Benson

Thanks, Benson. We're actually planning a little canoe excursion to Lobster Lake this week and will have to be working Saturday, but we'll look for another opportunity!
