Whither Mini Assembly?
IMG_4119.jpeg

The fall mini assembly hosted over Columbus Day weekend every year by the Delaware Valley Chapter at Gifford Pinchot State Park is a much loved gathering of the four Mid-Atlantic chapters that offers time for canoe craft, knowledge sharing, and storytelling around campfires and coffee urns. Oh, and there’s a little bit of paddling too.

This year the event was moved to Black Moshannon SP because Gifford Pinchot was closed for repairs. Attendance was light, and campsites were hard to get due to pressure from nearby Penn State on a big football weekend.

Organizer Jean Bratton is looking for input on where to locate the event next year:

From Jean:
We're starting to talk about reservations for next year and looking for some feedback from folks who actually have attended both Gifford Pinchot and Black Moshannon. Do you think
- we should go back to Gifford Pinchot, even though some of the camping loop(s) may be closed
- Try Black Moshannon again
- Give up on doing this all together
- other options you may have?

…. Send your feedback to me (Brad) or post it here in the forum and I’ll see that it gets shared with Jean.

A thank you from the mothership
Our faithful treasurer Fred forwarded this note from the main WCHA org, thanking us for chipping in a portion of our dues to support the kids’ program at summer Assembly. This is something we do usually every year because kids are our future!

… And speaking of thank yous…
I want to personally thank everyone who served the Chapter this year: Fred and Aleta, Craig and Diane, Mark and Ruth, and everyone else who put in some time, thinking or $$$ to keep Three Rivers going!

Thanks, and see you on the 16th!
