Peterborough AutoBoat - Year?

Hi -

I have a Peterborough Autoboat - model # 1811 (I think - it's hard to tell exactly, but the only other option is the 1829 and what's left of the numbers on the plate don't indicate a '29').

I'm curious if anyone is able to help me isolate the year of manufacture based on the serial number - 6515.

Hi,

It is not possible to find the year of manufacture from Peterborough Canoe Co serial/work order numbers. The records were lost or destroyed when the company went bankrupt in 1962.

Peterborough “Auto-boats” were made in many versions from 1929 until 1960. The models made before 1939 have a two digit model number and the ones built after 1939 have a four digit model number; 1411, 1412, 1487, 1811 and 1829.

The models #1411, #1412 and #1487 were made between 1939 and 1950. The model #1811 was made from 1948 until 1958 and #1829 was made between 1952 and 1960.

Model #1811 is 13’ in length and #1829 is 12’ in length.
