Penn Yan Rowboat

Hi

I have just aquired a Penn Yan 12 ft rowboat that I am about to restore, It has the identification on the stem of "WXH 9184". Does anybody know how I can find out the year it was built etc. I know that Old Town has information regarding their boats and canoes. I just don't know who to contact about the Penn Yan.

The WXH model Cartop Boat was offered 1940 to 1960. Some Penn Yan serial numbers include the date, but yours does not. You might be able to pin the year down closer by comparing your boat to catalog descriptions, noting options, wood species used for trim, etc.

Hi Dan,

No, the Penn Yan catalogs are not included on any of the CD collections. Penn Yan is still owned by someone, and we have been unable to obtain permission to reproduce this material.
