Penn Yan row boat

My friend has a Penn Yan row boat/car topper. Where would the serial number be and can you date it by the number?

Stamped on the inboard upper face of the stem (same as Old Town, etc.). Sometimes.

Old Town boats would also occasionally have the serial numbers stamped on the edge of the center transom brace as shown below. The port side edge of the motor cut out in the transom is another location but this was less common. The ones in the bow would often end up under a mast step or other later additions. I don't know if Penn Yan did the same. Good luck,
