Just finished reading Dan's article about Partelow canoes in Wooden Canoe issue 202. Interesting & informative stuff, and a builder I had never heard of. What caught my eye was the advertisement on p.16, which states ''canvas canoes lengths 16, 17, 18 feet, - weights 30, 35, and 40 pounds". These must have been very lightly built canoes! Perhaps this explains the scarcity of survivors. Tom McCloud
