OT & Sitka

LOVES Wooden Canoes
The spruce rails on the 1952 Yankee I bought last week look to be Alaskan Sitka. The fresh wood from samples of the rails cut back to splice in new tips match fresh cut old Alaskan Sitka that I have. The old Sitka that I have is from the 50's and 60's with that dark salmon color typical of good old cut Alaskan Sitka. As it appears to match I will make the tip splices out of it. My question is, "Did Old Town use Alaskan Sitka" and when?

PS: I can bring a few blocks of this to the Assembly if people would like some for restoration use. What I have is 2x6x14" to 16" rectangular blocks clear quarter sawn.
