Hey Dave--
Old Town 169640 is an 18 foot Guide model canoe, finished January to April of 1960. It has a keel and outside stems, and was painted guide special green before shipment to Milwaukee, WI, on May 2, 1960.
The scan of this record is attached below-- click on it to get a larger image. This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. This canoe was shipped to Ruggles Marine Mart in Milwaukee, same as my '46 Otca. Whatever that's worth...

Found a couple ads for Ruggles on line, in a scan of a 1957 Milwaukee paper.

I also had (sold to Ferdy) a 1960 15' Lightweight that was shipped to Ruggles.
Also in my collection is a pair of never used(or sparingly), pristine Old Town spruce paddles with a Ruggles decals on them. Not sure of the age.....
(**did we ever figure out paddle ages by decal type??)
I have found that there were about 4-6 major Old Town dealers in the midwest between Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois. Ruggles is one of them.
