Oldtown Build record

Russell:

Please check your serial # again. There are no records that I am aware of that go as high as 7*****. I have looked up Old Town records for 135744 and 35744, but neither of these fit the type of craft you are describing. Nor does # 73574.

My guess is that you may have the Old Town with serial number 135144. This is a 16 foot long, CS (Common Sense or middle) grade, square stern model with open spruce gunwales, ash decks, spruce thwarts, a keel, outside stems, and a floor rack. It was built between April and June, 1942. The exterior paint color was dark green with a T. (Tropical?) green bottom. It was shipped on February 20th, 1943 to South Paris, Maine. A scan showing this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.

These scans and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to join.

It is also possible that they could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your boat. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
