Hi. New to this forum. Thanks for letting me join.
I recently acquired an Old Towne canoe. It's serial number is 144395 15. It has a square back, canvas and is about 17 feet long.
Any information about the model and specs would be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome and congratulations, the Old Town canoe with serial number 144395 is a 15 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, square end paddling model with open spruce gunwales, ash decks, ash thwarts, ash seats, half ribs, a keel, outside stems, and a rowing seat. It was built between February and May, 1946. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on May, 8th, 1946 to Auburn, New York. A scan showing this build record can be found below.

This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See https://www.woodencanoe.org/about to learn more about the WCHA and https://www.woodencanoe.org/shop to donate or join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match. Page 14 of the 1946 Old Town catalog at https://solocanoes.com/flip/old-town-1946/ has more details. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
