Curious about Wooden Canoes
Looking for the build record of two old towns, S/N 126970 and S/N 113939

The Old Town canoe with serial number 130054 is a 16 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, Otca model with open spruce gunwales and a keel. It was built between May and November, 1940. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on June 21st, 1941 to Winona, Minnesota. A scan showing this build record can be found below.
This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. The Old Town canoe with serial number 113939 is a 15 foot long, CS (Common Sense or middle) grade, fifty pound model with red western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, ash decks, ash thwarts, ash seats, and a keel. It was built between April, 1934 and January, 1935. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on April 26th, 1935 to Duluth, Minnesota.
The Old Town canoe with serial number 126970 is a 17 foot long, AA (or top) grade, Otca model with open mahogany gunwales, mahogany decks, mahogany thwarts, mahogany seats, a keel, outside stems, and a floor rack. It was built between March and June, 1939. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on May 21st, 1940 to Yonkers, New York. The back side of the record indicates that the paint had blistered so refinishing material was mailed on September 6th,1940.
