Thank you very much for your sage advice. Yes, one of the first things I did was buy "This Old Canoe How to restore your wood-canvas Canoe" by Mike Elliot. This is not just an old Canoe, it is a family heirloom, that was my Grandfather's, Fathers, and now mine, So I don't want to destroy it for sure. I plan on passing it down to one of my two sons (probably have to find another one to restore for the other son)
