Old Town with number 50233

The Old Town canoe with serial number 50233 is a 17 foot long, AA grade, Charles River model with red Western cedar planking, open mahogany gunwales, mahogany decks, mahogany thwarts, mahogany seats, a keel, outside stems, and a floor rack. It was built between September, 1917 and April, 1919. The original exterior paint color was dark green with a four inch N. H. (New Haven) green stripe and turned down ends. There was also a four inch old English style "H" in gold on the border stripe on the left bow and right stern. This may have been similar to one shown at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/designs/design10.gif which was later known as the design number 10 although the gold stripe separating the two colors was not mentioned on this build record. It shipped on April 12th, 1919 to Smiths Ferry, Massachusetts. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link behind the attached thumbnail image below.

Yes, the diamond headed bolts didn't appear until around 1922 on the CS grade models and several years later on the AA grade ones. It is a nicer look. I just registered for the Assembly so will see you there,
