Curious about Wooden Canoes
I have an old town canoe, Serial # appears to be 442355---15, Rough shape, want to sell? Is this a trapper model?

The scanned Old Town records stop at 210999 so none of us here have any newer information for canoes like yours. You may be able to contact the customer service department at the Old Town Canoe Company and get a copy from their paper records if they are not too busy. Please reply here if they are not able to satisfy your request. There should be a hull identification number on the starboard stern that starts with XTC and ends with a date. The information at http://www.boatsafe.com/nauticalknowhow/hin.htm may help you decode this number.

The chart at http://forums.wcha.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=24294&d=1360203686 indicates that your canoe is probably from around 1994. This is near the time when they stopped keeping paper records of each canoe. A 15 foot long canoe from this era is probably a Trapper model. The messages at http://forums.wcha.org/showthread.php?57 have some good information about how to value and sell a canoe like this. The classifieds at http://classifieds.wcha.org/ are often one of the fastest ways to find a good new home for it. Good luck,

Benson
