Old Town Square Stern Sponson

I have an 18 foot Old Town Square stern with sponsons made in 1942 with rowing seat in center. I am restoring to original configuration and would appreciate any pictures of original or restored canoes. I am particularly interested in detailes of the stern.

There are some pictures at http://forums.wcha.org/showthread.php?4586 and http://forums.wcha.org/showthread.php?3054-Free-Canoe&p=14701#post14701 that may help. The one at http://forums.wcha.org/showthread.php?6668 is not confirmed as an Old Town but it looks like one. You may also want to get a copy of the Old Town Canoe Company Catalog Collection CD from http://store.wcha.org/The-Complete-Old-Town-Canoe-Company-Catalog-Collection-CD-ROM.html which also has many period images of these. Is there a particular stern detail that you aren't sure about?

Thanks Benson:
I am replacing the transom and both sides at the top have rotton wood. I want to see how the gunwales blend into the transom. As I recall, the transom is notched for the inner gunwale and screwed in place. I have completed the rest of the transom with Ash that is 1.1 inches thick and have duplicated the original grooves and angles that attach to ribs and planking.
