The Old Town canoe with serial number 110766 is a 16 foot long, AA (or top) grade, Otca model with red western cedar planking, open mahogany gunwales, mahogany decks, mahogany thwarts, mahogany seats, a keel, and floor rack. It was built between December, 1931 and July, 1933. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on July, 18th, 1933 to Lowell, Massachusetts.

The Old Town with serial number 177750 is a 15 foot long Trapper model with a keel. It was built between March and April, 1967. The original fiberglass exterior was painted dark green. It shipped on April 6th, 1967 to Newbury, Mass. The back side of the record indicates that it came back for repairs on July 30th, 1968. It was then shipped to Dedham, Massachusetts on September 30th, 1968.

Scans showing all of these build record scans can be found below. These scans and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See https://www.woodencanoe.org/about to learn more about the WCHA and https://www.woodencanoe.org/shop to donate or join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if these descriptions don't match the canoes. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions. Good luck with the auctions,

Benson

Thanks Benson much appreciated. I'm not familiar with the trapper with the polypropylene covering. Basically fiberglass?
Seems like a decent smaller boat.

Yes, this is a type of fiberglass. The Fifty Pound model was renamed to become the Lightweight model in the 1966 catalog. The Featherweight was the same hull covered in Dacron. The Trapper model was introduced in the 1967 catalog which was the same hull covered in fiberglass. This model is still available today as shown at the link below although most of them are canvas covered. Let me know if this doesn't answer your question,

Benson
