old town serial number

The Old Town canoe with serial number 222240 is a 16 foot long fiberglass Carleton Adventurer model. It was built in August, 1978. The original exterior gelcoat color was blue. It shipped on September 21st, 1978 to Newbury, Mass. The back side of the card indicates that it had some soft spots on the bottom and had moved to Fall River, Mass. by April 8th, 1979 after it was sold from the dealer. These scans and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. The messages at http://forums.wcha.org/showthread.php?57 describe how difficult it is to value wooden canoes and fiberglass ones aren't any easier. Most seem to sell for a few hundred dollars.
