Old Town Sailing canoe

The Old Town canoe with serial number 135804 is a 16 foot long, CS (Common Sense or middle) grade, HW (heavy water) model with open spruce gunwales, ash decks, ash thwarts, ash seats, oval outside finish rails, a keel, a brass Abercrombie & Fitch nameplate, a painter ring in the stem and number six canvas. It was built between July and October, 1942. The original exterior paint color was bright red. It shipped on February 24th, 1943 to New York City. This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others.
