The Old Town with serial number 72956 is a 16 foot long, CS grade, HW (Heavy Water) model with Western red cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, birch(?) decks, birch(?) trim, and a keel. It was built between July, 1922 and November, 1923. The original exterior paint color was dark red(?). It shipped on January 23rd, 1924 to Philadelphia, Penna. There is no mention of a sailing rig on this build record so that was probably added after it left the factory.
Scans of these build records can be found by following the links behind the thumbnail images attached below. These scans were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. Additional information about the project to preserve these records is available at

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if these descriptions don't match. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
