Old Town Otca paint stripe question

Curious about Wooden Canoes
I am putting the finishing touches on my 3 year project Old Town , Otca 17’.
The build sheet calls for a 2” stripe does anyone havea photo of how this should look?
Also if I am going to place the name as part of this stripe should it go at midship?
thanks again, this group has been invaluable in my endeavor to bring this canoe back to life,

My guess

A two inch white stripe in 1917 probably looked like the one shown at https://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/designs/design34.gif on the design number 34. It could also have been a border stripe as shown at https://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/designs/design46.gif on the design 46. The page at https://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/designs/thumbnal.html may give you some other ideas. Let me know if this doesn't answer your question. A name is most likely to have gone on one or both ends. However, it is your canoe do what looks best to you. Good luck and please post some pictures when you are done,

Benson
