Welcome, the Old Town canoe with serial number 73033 is a 17 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, Otca model with western red cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, birch decks, birch thwarts, birch seats, a keel, and a floor rack. It was built between July, 1922 and January, 1923. The original exterior paint color was orange with a 5/8 inch black stripe and Greek ends. This may have looked similar to the one shown at
http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/designs/greek.gif but with different colors. It shipped on February 5th, 1923 to Grand Rapids, Michigan. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.
This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at
http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See

It is likely that you have another number or manufacturer since this description doesn't match the 16 foot length listed after the serial of your canoe. The Old Town with serial number 73038 is a 16 foot canoe as shown below for example.
Can you post some pictures of the serial numbers from each end of your canoe (or indicate which digit is the least clear) and confirm the overall extreme length in a straight line? The suggestions at
http://www.wcha.org/forums/index.php?threads/791/ may help you determine the correct serial number and the information at
http://www.wcha.org/forums/index.php?threads/57/ may help you sell it. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
