Old Town Canoe with serial number 158368

Chris Pearson asked me about the eBay canoe listed at http://www.ebay.com/itm/281305959268 so I decided to reply here in case anyone else has the same question. The seller describes it as an "Antique 1905 Old Town Indian Canoe For Restoration Vintage Boat 5 Digit Serial #" but my guess is that it is a fifty pound model that shipped in 1953 as shown in the build record below. This is a time when we could really use one of Chris's hand held canoe identification devices. I have notified the seller that the 1905 date may be an error and sent him a copy of this build record. Good Grief! Inwales gone, Outwales gone, decks gone, seats out, several ribs out, looks liked cracked planking, what else is wrong that the pictures don't show? And he wants $2k??!! Doubt I'd give $50 it he delivered.
