Flourishy cursive.....we don't see much of it anymore. I wonder if the government was able to hire all of the people they needed to decode old documents? Or, if any of them are still employed?
Your very nice canoe is an Otca model.
It is said that the Otca model refers to a telegraph code for Old Town Canoe Company. Whatever the case, the Otca name is one of the most known of all canoe models. I'm guessing that most wooden canoe enthusiasts have owned at least several of them. I know I have.

Today I purchase an Old town canoe built in 1916 in mint condition. I was looks ng for anything about what model it is. Plus it's value.

Thank you, the bill states color in catalog which is green but the bill reads "oil in japan" I have no idea what that means, do you understand that?

This means that Japan drier was used to make the paint dry faster. It was common during that era.

The canoe is dark red but the catalog cover pic is green. I can't find any evidence of green . Could the data be incorrect, is it possible that they used red ?

Canvas is commonly replaced after about twenty years of regular use so you are probably not looking at the original material.
