The Old Town canoe with serial number 125362 is a 17 foot long, AA (or top) grade, Otca model with open mahogany gunwales, mahogany decks, mahogany thwarts, mahogany seats, a keel, and a floor rack. It was built between June, 1938 and August, 1939. The original exterior paint color design is shown at
http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/designs/design37.gif and was known as the design number 37. It shipped on September 23rd, 1939 to the Eastern States Exposition. See
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Big_E for more about the Big E. It was probably purchased from the show and taken to Lake Huntington, New York. It appears that there was a problem with the finish so it was revarnished on June 28th, 1940 and shipped back to New Haven, Conn on July 3rd, 1940 as shown on the back side of the build record. Scans showing both sides of this build record can be found by following the links at the attached thumbnail images below.
These scans and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at
http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See
http://www.wcha.org/about-the-wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
