Old town 86768 16

Welcome and congratulations, the Old Town canoe with serial number 86768 is a 16 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, Yankee model with red Western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, oak decks, oak thwarts, oak seats, and a keel. It was built between February and May, 1925. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped to Gloversville, New York. The back side of the record indicates that it may have moved to Tarrytown, New York by December 30th, 1974 when there was a previous request for a copy of this information. Scans showing both sides of this build record can be found below.

These scans and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at https://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See https://www.woodencanoe.org/about to learn more about the WCHA and https://www.woodencanoe.org/shop to donate or join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions. Good luck with the project,

Benson

Thank you, I thought it would be an Otca model as it has a 34.5” beam. 100 years old it could have moved around some.
